Closing of Brunswick Naval Air Station

Brunswick Naval Air Station in Maine, was originally constructed and occupied in March of 1943 and was first commissioned on April 15, 1943. The base will officially close in May of 2011 but all of the flight squadrons have already departed for Jacksonville, Florida. The base will be sadly missed by Mainers. In getting ready to close down most of the base the Freeport Flag Ladies were honored to be presented with a 20 x 40 foot American flag and their Ceremonial Flag.
