Letters from Families & Troops

Dear Freeport Flag Ladies,

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for the kindness you extended to my crew on July 26, 2007 and August 12, 2007.  The Navy Expeditionary Medical Facility, Kuwait, crew is composed of Individual Augmentees from 32 separate commands throughout the world.  We provide inpatient and outpatient care for Sailors, Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, and coalition partners from Iraq, Afghanistan, and the surrounding area.

As CO here, I greatly appreciate your thoughtfulness.  As many of my new crew begin six months to a year away from their loved ones, it is a great comfort for them to know that great Americans like you are thinking of them.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.  You have made a difference.  Please tell me if there is anything I can ever do for you.

V/R,
K. D. M.
CAPT, MC, USN
Commanding Officer, Expeditionary Medical Facility, Kuwait

My son deployed to Iraq on Aug 17th and made a stop in Maine. I checked out the pictures hoping to see one of him and you do actually have a photo of him on your website. Would you please send me via e-mail the original photo as I would love to have it!

I want to thank you for the wonderful service that you provide regarding supporting our troops! It means the world to me as both of my sons (my only children) are in the Marine Corp and I am happy to know that there are citizens in this country that go out of their way to show their appreciation and support of our military. Thank you again!

 Sincerely, J.H.

I just want to thank you for meeting our solders in Maine that was the nicest thing any one has done. I am a wife of one of the 730th QM and seeing the pictures really helped me. I would be honored to have the pictures. You girls are doing something really great, us left at home is really hard. This is my husbands 2nd trip over and he is very sad he is leaving our 7 month little girl, and it is very hard being a mother by your self so the pictures will give me hope that she will know him when he returns to us.     Thank you so much, this really means a lot to all of us. Depart, date 8-17-07

Thank you so much, J.R.

Dear Freeport Flag Ladies,

First, I would like to Thank You for what you do!  You don't know how much this touched my son, SGT J.W.  He was on his way to Kuwait, before going to Iraq.  When he was able to call he told me about what you did for them.  It made him feel so good and appreciated.  It also made mom feel good!  I was able to talk to Jake one more time since then.  One of the first things he asked was if I looked on your site and if I saw his picture.  I am going to post a thank you on your letters site.  This was such a comforting surprise for these guys.  THANK YOU!

THANK YOU FREEPORT FLAG LADIES AND GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!

Sincerely, S. W. in Wisconsin

I want to Start off by saying what an amazing website you have, as I sit here with tears in my eyes I think its people like you that make this world a better place, and I thank you for that!! I am 25 years old I live in Elderton Pennsylvania, My brother deployed from Maine, August 17th, I am still heartbroken, there hasn’t been a day gone by that I haven’t shed a tear over him leaving but I know this is what he wants to do and where he wants to be in his life, so all I can do is pray everyday for god to watch over him, he is my half brother and to me he is my brother 100% there is no half about it. He is an amazing brother, father, and fiancée. He is greatly missed and we would be sooooo happy if you could send us the following pictures. They are amazing, and I know I along with my family would have given anything to be there that day with him, the last time we have seen him was thanksgiving day 2007, so his leaving wasn’t easy but it makes my heart happy to know that you brought a smile to his face, even with a shake of your hand (which I can see in the one picture) and I will forever be thankful to you for that!!! I will spread the word of your website and if there is ever anything I can do, please just email me and I will do my best. Again thank you sooo much for making him smile, and making me cry (a good cry) Just to see the pictures of that day makes me feel a little bit better. I would forever be thankful if you could send the following pictures and if you have any questions, I will be more then happy to answer them. Again, I can’t say thank you enough, I am along with my family sooooooo thankful for people like you, May God Bless you everyday!!!

With Love and Thanks, M.P.

We can not express enough the gratitude my husband and I feel for the wonderful reception that was given to our son's squadron last night in Bangor. You are greatly appreciated. We were so worried about him and then We got the phone call saying he had arrived in Bangor. That was such a gift. This morning we looked at the website and saw pictures of him with his entire squadron. You have made us feel so much better. It is our son's first trip to the sandbox and he was very nervous. The pictures gave us his beautiful smile and so much relief.Thank you again to all involved. Gail

Our Dear Flag Ladies:

My Husband is in the 149th Vertical Engineers out of KY.  I was sent your link to your website through a friend of the Carlisle, KY group that just left for Iraq in August and their pictures are posted. I cannot express to you how much this means to our families.  Your group is an inspiration and a blessing.  It really shows our troops that they are supported when they leave and when they arrive home.  Thank you for your sacrifice and support.  It’s not always easy getting the phone call that your loved one has to leave, but to know that they are going to defend great Americans, as yourselves, makes it a touch easier to understand why they must leave.  My husband will be leaving in February, I can only hope that you will capture his moments, leaving and coming home.  Thanks again for your hard work, and it is VERY much appreciated by the military family!!!!!

Dear Ladies,

My husband SSG B. called from Maine on to let me know they arrived safely. He mentioned these ladies that were so nice and a website. I looked at every page. First of all where do you ladies find the energy for everything you do? It was 1:18am when my husband called you look bright eyed and bushy tailed in the pictures. I hope you realize what it means to those that serve their country so bravely. My husband and I were high school sweethearts, we have been married 18 years and we have 3 children. We have sacrificed so much; most people never see it and they often don't want to. One small one is our wedding anniversary; we have missed many in his Navy days. He came home from his first tour in Iraq on our 14th anniversary and left for his second tour on our 18th anniversary. I know I have rattled on and on and you are so busy. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart; anyone that is kind to my husband is a friend for life.

May God bless you well.

With love, A.B.

Dear Ladies,

I am the mom of Spc. A.B.  He was recently deployed to Iraq.  I have never heard of your group before but I think you are all awesome.  I thank you for welcoming my son to Bangor.  I miss him terribly and it soothes my heart knowing that he is in good hands in Bangor.  This is the first time he has deployed so I was not expecting any communication from anyone but him (he has not had a chance to contact me yet).  So it was a great surprise that someone contacted me upon his safe arrival to Kuwait and you ladies contacted me about the pictures.  Thank you again for welcoming all troops and making them feel special (which they all are).

Thank you again so much for the email and the pictures.  God Bless You All.  Sincerely, Judy Barton

Looking at the faces of family members has their great their love one, seen so much patriotism and dedication you ladies put in to your work can not be describe.

Thank you so very much for yesterday, today and tomorrow. Thank you for bringing us something to hold on to and cherish.

My son-in-law and my daughter just got married on August 27th of 2006, this year is their first wedding anniversary and they will be spending it apart. I wanted to share this with all of you, I am the proud Grandparent. Here is what we all stand for! Liberty Faith B. was delivered on 07/27/07 3:05pm. Her daddy is in Iraq and could only call on the phone during delivery. He is hoping to return home in December to see his beautiful baby girl. Your emails have been so comforting to me as his mother. It is so hard sometimes, but I just wanted you all to know how much the Families and the Soldiers appreciate every minute you contribute to this Organization!  You all are just angels and we could not be where we are today without your support! Sincerely, B. C. Military Mother of Two!

Firstly, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being there for our troops. I know that my son was extremely excited about it when he called me from the airport and told me about your website.

My only two children (both boys) left for Iraq within a day of each other...they are in the same company but different platoons...it is really difficult but I think I'm managing pretty good...your website really made me feel great...to know that other people care about our servicemen and women so much...not just their parents and loved ones. Thank You!

Again, thank you so very much. God Bless all of you!

S.M.L. Mother of 2-Marines

Thank you for all you do!! Finding this web site and seeing a picture of my son the Marine keeps me going. I come back every few weeks to take another look at my son and some friends to feel a little closer to him while he is deployed...

Thank you again and God Bless everyone of you

M.S. Very proud mom of Marine deployed to Iraq

Dear ones, my son Jason is safely home with his loved ones once again, I am eternally grateful for your vigilance and your sacrifice in behalf of our soldiers and our nation. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, for all you do, have done, and will do for us all. Your mail helped me get through it all. God Bless and keep you always is my fervent prayer for you all, J. K.

I just wanted to say "thank you" for all that you do to show your love and support to the troops going overseas. On your website, I managed to see several photos of my own nephew who has been deployed to Iraq. It is a great comfort to know that each soldier receives such a warm welcome from the folks in Maine.

Again, thank you so much for all that you do.

Sincerely, M.R.

First I want to thank you so much for what you do. My husband called me from Bangor and told me how nice their welcome was. My children and I just sat down and went through the pictures of my husband's flight and I cannot begin to explain how excited they were to see Daddy. There's been quite of bit of yelling, clapping and laughing going on out here this morning. I was incredibly moved by your site before my husband's photos were even added. God Bless you for the work you do.

First of all let me tell you that what you ladies are doing is an amazing thing. My husband just deployed for his first tour in Iraq for 15 months. He was so surprised and touched that so many people were there at the airport to greet his plane at 3am. I just cannot thank you enough. For those of us left behind it is a comfort to be able to get another glimpse of our loved ones, even in pictures. Thank you again, ad if you could send me the following pictures, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you E.M.

Thank you! I received your CD today. I will put it in our digital album and make it ready for our family readiness meeting. Thank you. I also wanted to thank you for the inspirational messages that you have send me. They are wonderful! I am also x-military and I was raised military. I served in the 1st gulf war as well. Thank you for what you do for our troops - specifically my husband!

Thank you!

Thanks so much for all that you do, we recently had a gathering of Moms, all of whom had sons either deployed or just back or about to deploy - all were teammates on the lacrosse team at West Point. One of the proud moms's had a picture of her son from your web site. I have a weekend home in Freeport and am amazed there is such wonderful thing going on right in my own backyard, that I was only slightly knowledgeable about. I had of course passed the flags and waved but never known the extent of what you do. Let me know if you ever have gatherings on weekends, as I would like to stop by and thank you in person. I have one son with First Cav in Iraq now and his twin scheduled to deploy in November.

K.C.

My husband recently encountered your wonderful group while he & his group were en route to Kuwait. THANK YOU for greeting them and for the wonderful photos! It was great to see such a current photo of him! Even though he's only been gone a few weeks at training, it seems like a long time already and it was so great for our daughter and I to and I to see him & the folks he's going over with.

THANK YOU for the wonderful things you do!

Very best regards, P.P.

Dear Flag Ladies,

Thank you very much for your countless hours and selfless actions to help instill pride in our country and with our service men and women. Your generosity with your time and energy to support our troops as they depart and return home is incredibly valuable. It provides us, the family members, with another tangible link to our loved ones and it provides the soldiers with a morale boost and reminder that Americans do support and care about them and their sacrifice.

Thank you also for offering to provide copies of the pictures taken in Bangor Airport! I would like to request the following two pictures, if possible, please:

Thank you again for your wonderful service. Your actions are inspiring!

Hello Elaine,

I first heard of your group from my little sister when she deployed about 2 years ago. I continued to get your emails and pass them on as a sign of encouragement to others. Today, I am emailing you from a deployed location and am grateful for the encouraging emails. They give me the encouragement that I need daily! Please pass this on to the other wonderful people in your organization. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO!!!!

TSgt M. R.

Thank you so much for the wonderful work you ladies are doing in Bangor for the troops. My granddaughter was one of the soldiers who were greeted by your group on June 27, 2007. Her picture was on your page and she looked like she was happy.

This is a trying time for us all, and I thank you so much for making our troops feel like we are supporting them here at home. Continue the good work. You are truly angels.

Sincerely, M.P.L., Bloomington, IN

I wanted to thank you ladies for your wonderful pictures and the sweetness that you show the military. The pictures that you posted of my husband (July 20, 2007) made mine and both of my sons day. Thank you for your patriotism and the work that you do.

Thank you, L.V.

Dear Flag Ladies,

I am so honored and thankful for the great website you have put together. Thank you to God for your supporting our troops and being there for them when we cannot. I would like to request two pictures please, This is my boyfriend, and I am so proud of him and to see him on this made me smile. Thank you so much.

Dear Ladies,

Thank so much for your moral support..!!! I really appreciate your understanding for our difficult moments and the prayers for our Sons.

My ladies thank you and God bless you ..!!!

First of all let me tell you that what you ladies are doing is an amazing thing. My husband just deployed for his first tour in Iraq for 15 months. Thank you so much for meeting all of the men and women serving our country! Our son was greeted on July 20 and we were able to see his photo on your site. This is his first deployment and we were so excited to see his picture that we forwarded the link to all our friends and family. This is a hard time for everyone but it is reassuring to know that wonderful people met him, as he was getting ready to leave the country. You don't know how much your site means to so many people.

THANKS!!!! The S. Family

To All Of You Wonderful People! Our 19yr. Marine son just deployed from Camp Pendleton this past Thursday on his way to Iraq. My friend, Mary, just emailed me with your site saying his photo was on it! Needless to say, my husband, daughter and I, all gathered around the computer as we looked for his photo and found it. If I were there, I would give you a huge hug! I forwarded the site/photo on to my many siblings who will be so happy to see his photo also.

I had seen an article not long ago (I think it was a video clip on the net) about a group of people who greet the troops, and I thought, "how wonderful that is!".. It brought tears to my eyes that these troops would be greeted by kind words, smiles, hugs and handshakes. I think it may have been your group! In any case, what a blessing you are to these troops, and to their families!! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!! Sincerely, S.A.

Dear Carmen, Elaine and JoAnn,

I saw an email some time ago with a few pictures of what a wonderful blessing you are giving our U.S. Troops. I believe - I also saw something on 20/20 or 60 Minutes or something like that about a gentleman that also does this, but I don't know if he's from Maine and part of your organization.

My son is a Marine and just left on June 19th. I was told to go onto your website because I might see a picture of my son. I checked the July 20 link and found 4 pictures of my son!

Thank you for giving my son and all the other sons, daughters, fathers, brothers, spouses, sisters one more smile, hug, encouraging words, love and support.

I pray that you and all your supporters/volunteers never tire of your devotion to this cause. Thank you for helping God with his blessings!

May God bless and protect each of you.

Hugs, A Mother of A U.S. Marine

Dear Flag Ladies:

My son passed through your state, Thursday, on his way to his assignment in Iraq. And though I missed his call, he was sure to make mention of your organization in his message. What you all are doing is a wonderful show of support for our soldiers. Thank you for being there to make their stopover more comfortable...and thank you for seeing them off when their families cannot.

I would very much appreciate a copy of the photograph that was taken during his layover.

Thank you.K.

At first I thought how little significance this could be, but how wrong I was. You surely are making a difference, "God Bless You All"

Thank you for taking time out of you daily lives to make such an impact.

Just wanted to let you know what a huge impact your pictures had on me! My brother is with the 1/1 Marines on his first deployment to Iraq and went through on July 19, 2007. I was feeling so down the next day, then found the website he told us about. The picture captured everything good about him, he looked so happy with his fellow Marines. Thank you for the peace of mind; I will look at this picture whenever I'm feeling apprehensive about his decision to serve. God bless all of you girls!

Hi Ladies,

I'm doing so much better got everything figured out and a nice long 30-hour drive ahead of me. I would love to get more photos. I spotted five on the site and if I could get them or any others you have. I'd love that so much. I've already started showing them to other family members and they were very happy as well to see him doing well. Its fun to look for him. Its like playing where's Waldo. It's from the July 20th flight of 1 Marines. Once again thank you for all you do. It means so much to our family, David and myself. I can't wait for 7 months to see the coming home photos. God Bless you!!!

Sincerely all my thanks from the bottom of my heart, B. M.C

ps. Keep up the great work!

Dear Flag Ladies,

My husband came through on July 20th. And for you gals to be there and support them like you do means the world to me. It's been a rough year for us and even now is difficult. I know my husband has been worried about me ... He was able to call me and let me know that you gals had taken pictures of him in Maine and knew the fact of seeing him might comfort me in this difficult time. Which it did greatly. I joke with him that he could leave his gear and put me in his sea bag. Right now I wish he could. Thank you for supporting our troops and my husband. May God bless you.

Sincerely,

B.M.C

Hello Ladies!

My brother came through your airport on July 19, 2007 on his way to Iraq. I want you to know how wonderful it was to hear what you had done for him, and have done for all the others. To know that there are others who support our Soldiers and Marines the way we do is heart warming. Thank you so much. I would love to find out if there is any way I could join a group like yours in my area! You will be in my prayers, as is my brother and all of our troops!

Marine's Little Sis

Thank you so much for hugging my son! ... He is so handsome, isn't he? This is his first deployment. He is full of passion and joy for this assignment. We so appreciate all you do for the troops! May God bless you for your faithfulness!

Hello,

Thank you again and for all you do and making this whole process a little easier to see. I am a rookie when it comes to this whole thing and even though he has been before to Iraq, I wasn't around yet so this is a first for me. I had horrible thoughts in my head and you gave me hope. I know that God is watching over him for me and his family and we pray every day for him. Thank you for your prayers also and those pictures you made my whole day!!!

You recently took a couple of pictures of my husband when they stopped to refuel on his way to Iraq. I saw on your website that you would email the pictures if requested. I would really appreciate that. ... Thank you so much for taking the time to take these pictures and to talk with our Marines, obviously when he's gone anything that has to do with him is always wonderful to have and I can't tell you how much it's appreciated. Thank you again. L.T.

Thank you so much for the work you do to support our guys. My husband was with a unit that came through there and was photographed by the Maine Troop Greeters and it was so good to see him. Even though they just left we miss his face already. It was good for my little ones to see their Daddy and be able to tell them that nice people like yourselves were there to greet them.

As one thankful wife and proud American, I wish you all well and thank God for your support. Thank you and God Bless. M.B.

Hello there,

On July 19th my Husband called me from Maine and said as we were talking his picture was taken and you gave him the web site. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH FOR DOING THIS FOR THE TROOPS! I LOVE MEETING GOD'S CHOSEN ANGELS THROUGH OUT MY LIFE, YOU ARE ONE OF THEM.

Semper Fi Proud Marine Wife.

I thank you so much! I was trying to read your response through tears in my eyes, it's only my second day without my husband and this is his forth deployment (he volunteered) for this forth one to be with his guys. I'm so proud of him but it doesn't get any easier no matter how many he's done.

God bless you all and your families for what you do. E. M.

My son just returned from a 22-month tour of duty to Iraq. They were supposed to be home in March but got extended. _Just heard from my son and he said they flew into the same place as when they left in 2005 and that you ladies were there to cheer them on once again.

I don't know how to tell you how much you are appreciated. My computer screen saver has been the pictures you took of him when he left in 2005 and now I have him back in person.

Just wanted to let you know how much you are appreciated for all you do.

God bless you all. B.K.
