| This year, 4 commemorative Lincoln pennies will be released in limited numbers. The first was released on February 12th - Lincoln's birthday. They were not released in New England. Elaine was determined to get some to give to the soldiers. After hours of phone calls she decided to try Maine's Senator Susan Collins and Sarah was able to find some in Washington DC. Two very heavy boxes were shipped to her office in Portland. Her gracious staff accepted them. Elaine has had a Lincoln post card image put on a card with a tiny envelope on the back that will hold the Lincoln penny. | |
